Safe birth Report: A call to action report
FPHS’s “Safe Birth Report Development” is a comprehensive study on maternal health in India, taking a life course approach to understand the challenges and policies around maternal health care. The report also highlights grassroot strategies for empowering communities to ensure safe and healthy pregnancies for newborns and children.
The report’s drafting was led by FPHS’s team, with support from Human Capital Lighthouse Consulting Pvt Ltd. The project’s vision was to catalyze the acceleration towards safe and healthy pregnancies for newborns and children.
The report was released at a high-level event in the Embassy of Switzerland on 13 Sept 2022 attended by around 50 experts. The drafting of this report was led by the team of FPHS with support from Human Capital lighthouse Consulting Pvt Ltd.
Our team also formed a national advisory board with the participation of leading Indian Experts from around 20 organizations.
The report was endorsed by eight organizations including The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India, Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), Jhpiego India, Population Council Institute (PCI), Save the Children, India, and Foundation for Mother and Child Health India).
The foreword for the report has been written by Ms. Sujata Rao, the former union health secretary, Govt of India.
