Awareness campaign of Hepatitis B (#reachingtheunreached)

At FPHS, we believe in reaching out to the most marginalized communities to promote better health and well-being. On World Hepatitis Day 2022, we took a step towards “bringing Hepatitis care closer to the community” and organized an awareness campaign among waste collectors of New Seemapuri, Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA).

These waste pickers are unsung #wastemanagement workers who work in the field of waste management but are rarely given importance. They are prone to a higher risk of health conditions due to poverty and the working environment. The FPHS team interacted with them and their representatives to understand their knowledge, attitudes, and practices and delivered a health talk on Hepatitis and its preventive measures. We emphasized the importance of Hepatitis B vaccination for their well-being during the health awareness program.
